Kara's JamJar Dressing Room Retroactive Resolutions Skips Day One Say What

Good morning everyone, Kara here.

So, Barry and I and Alex were having this conversation last night -- and you know Barry and I are the right ones here, right? About how everyone makes resolutions, and-or should, because new better year, new better you? What with it being the new year and all of us getting to be here, I think we should share our resolutions.

And then we can help each other keep to them, too! And if you don't have some, you can make retroactive resolutions right now, or we can help you find one or two.






(OOSL: Feel free to take this how you like. It's handwavily into everyone being used the being here, getting to come back and forth, know the fourth wall is not a thing. Leave lists. Leave comments. "I finally got Oliver to admit it's okay to have love in his life, now I've got to convince you, too?" Drawing a series of squares and then adding crosses to the middle of them.

Kara draws back a little. Surprised at the words making sense, being entirely familiar and known, if wildly out of their context here and now. It takes a second to get her thoughts past though. The jagged line of pain it stumbles over like a fault in the ground. Mon-El. Imra. To be able to put her own words around it without having expected to. Layered on Barry like this.

"Do you remember that day, Barry?"

"I brought you ice cream." He pauses in his drawing lets go of the marker and blurs out. By the time he blurs back, he's handing her an ice cream bar from the lab's freezer and is back to drawing.

He's gone. The flicker of time that isn't even near to a second. A flash. An emptiness. Another flash. Then, he's not gone, and there's an ice cream bar in her hands and he's catching a marker that never had time to even fall. Kara can't help that her mouth tries to form a smile even as something tears in her heart, prickles in her eyes.

"The first time?" Not the last time. Not when he said the part before just now. It's a leap from one end to another. She nods, even without opening it. "You did." Her hold on the ice cream is delicate if distracted, as she doesn't let go, but she moves around the tableside. Her focus all on him, and her voice far more serious. "Barry. I don't know what happened, but I'm going to help you. I promise. Whatever this is, whoever did it."

He's heard her, there's no real doubt about that. He nods, and keeps drawing. A slight distraction, but he does hear her. He draws a swirl and after that a sideways square, then a series of 4 squares like a mother-box. Then a pause.

He looks up at her, concerned. Leans forward, and touches her temple. "Who did that?" What he's seeing? Probably not what's there.

Kara blinks. Part surprise, part confusion, another part simply plain reaction as though he has to mean something is wrong. Staring at her so intently, reaching out to touch her. With her hair, or her glasses, or. But logic catches up with that, maybe as the reflex to reach up and check means her fingers lightly touch his, even though she knows beyond the first question. She's fine.

Rattled now, concerned herself, but physically fine.
Except he looks so certain, too. "Did what, Barry?"

"Red sun. Red daughter. Angry, so angry. She doesn't know. Why did she do that?" He shakes his head, pulling his hand back and getting up to move to a wall. This whole room is going to be covered in symbols, eventually. "Train, brain, rain."

Kara brow wrinkles because the first few words sound like they could be talking about her, about her home, but the rest doesn't line up. She isn't angry. She doesn't know who that 'she' could be, or what he was talking about that the woman might have done even inside his head. Wherever it is he's lost.

She stands up, watching him go, and looks down at her still occupied hand. It's a sin to actually ever let good ice cream go to waste, isn't it? Kara tore the wrapper, while walking over to him, taking a bite and trying to focus on what he was doing this time. "What are you working on?"




Not that she excepts a clear answer. But it can't hurt, and she can't give up.

He keeps drawing those strange symbols, they seem almost nonsensical but they're not in any sort of random order. So perhaps they do mean something. After a moment, he offers her a smile.

"This world is limited in what it can offer as solutions to your problem." Then, back to the wall. "An adverse outcome would annihilate Earth-originating intelligent life."
